We are looking to hire energetic, responsible specialty staff (arts & crafts, sports and learning) for the summer Day Camp in a beautiful bungalow colony in the Catskill Mountains. Moonlight Day Camp serves the Modern Orthodox residents of Moonlight Cottages and neighboring towns and bungalow colonies, with programs and activities for boys and girls from ages 2-11. Your goal as specialty staff is simple: Make this summer the most memorable and wonderful camp experience your campers will ever have, for the rest of their lives.
Applicants do not need prior experience, but they should demonstrate a quick ability to learn and take direction. Specialty staff report to the Camp Director and must attend two days of all-staff orientation and training before camp begins.
Specific Responsibilities
Supervise and run a specific specialty area (arts & crafts, sports, or learning) in conjunction with the counselor staff.
Plan a robust program and schedule of activities for your specialty area.
Facilitate camper’s participation in your planned activities.
Communicate with parents as to the well-being and participation of their children, as needed, in coordination with the Camp Director.
Monitor the health, safety and well-being of all campers under your care.
Help maintain a spiritual atmosphere appropriate for a modern Orthodox Jewish camp by wearing appropriate modest attire (girls) and attending minyan (boys).
Managing inventory relating to your specialty, and working with the Camp Director to procure replacements, as needed.
Making sure all equipment and camp property under your supervision is properly stowed and secured at the end of each camp day.
